INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
Kickstart your career in humanitarian aid and development
Women remain underrepresented in leadership roles in the aid and development sectors. As their careers progress, opportunities decline along with their representation.
This programme works with young women to provide tangible work experience opportunities, enabling them to launch successful careers in the aid and development sector and beyond.
Underpinned by the goal of fostering youth development and enhancing access to the aid and development workforce, this programme is working to mobilise a strong cohort of female professionals with the tools and confidence to make a difference.
When I started my internship I was very happy because CTG provided me with the opportunity that I was looking for. I met such helpful people, who taught me many things and helped build my confidence. I’ve improved my skills during this internship and I know it will help me reach my career goals.

EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH INTERNSHIPS
Limited access to appropriate skills and on-the-job training is a significant barrier to women’s ability to join and excel within the formal labour market, especially in fragile and conflict-affected countries. Internships provide young women in these contexts with the opportunity to secure these skills and get their feet on the career ladder.
HOW DOES OUR INTERNSHIP WORK?
CTG’s Internship Programme lasts from three to six months and is hosted at our management or field-support offices.
Interns receive clearly defined responsibilities, allowing them to gain valuable experience and contribute meaningfully to CTG’s business.
For those still in full-time education, work shadowing opportunities are provided which last from one to two weeks.
WHY WOMEN?
According to the United Nations, globally women’s labour force participation is 20 per cent lower than that of men. In conflict-affected countries, this gap is even larger.
Women’s meaningful contributions to the economy are integral for their rights and empowerment, as well as for improving national development outcomes.
Creating internship opportunities for young women strengthens their chances of securing decent work. Committed to SDG 5 Gender Equality, we’re actively trying to close the gender gap through Female First.
