Our New EPIC Company Values
At the start of this year we launched our new EPIC company values. These EPIC values represent Engage, Pioneer, Improve and Care. They will help guide and inform our company culture, behaviour, decision making and ultimately our performance. In doing so they will set a standard that will drive our business forward and enable us to elevate the exceptional service that we provide to our clients.
WHAT ARE COMPANY VALUES AND WHY DID WE LAUNCH THEM?
Values are a set of guiding principles and fundamental beliefs that help people function together as a team and work toward a common goal. CTG has always had a strong company culture, but until now it had not been formally defined. We set out to change that and put into words what really matters to our company.
Our teams are situated across a number of countries, and last year our business also grew substantially. Creating values have therefore provided an opportunity to foster consistency across all our countries of operation and to ensure that we are all working towards the same vision and goals. EPIC aims to inspire and create a common purpose that will bring our teams together in unity, across borders and functions so that we can achieve great things.
We haven’t made qualities like ‘integrity’, ‘caring’, ‘excellence’, ‘honesty’, or ‘great customer service’ their own stand-out values. This is because we believe CTG-ers should already possess these qualities, behaviours and deliverables and they are also already outlined in our Code of Conduct. Instead, we’ve focused on what makes us uniquely us.
HOW DID WE GET TO EPIC?
CTG underwent a series of steps to get to EPIC, ensuring that the values we created truly resonated with all our staff, everywhere. We ran surveys, workshops and one-on-one sessions. Each stage dove deeper into what really matters to CTG staff across all levels, and what they believe is important for them and their teams to do their job well. This helped us understand the current culture, as well as our aspirational culture and where we want to be in the future. The insights gathered were analysed and used to define four thematic areas that then set the foundation that helped us to define and bring EPIC to life.
SO WHAT DOES EPIC MEAN?
Each value is equally important, but they embody their own principles and approach.

Commitment is in our name, and this sets a strong foundation for our dedication to our work. At CTG we all get involved, and actively engage with our stakeholders and local communities. We understand that by supporting humanitarian and development programmes, what we do contributes to a bigger picture – the part we play, and doing it well, improves lives. It’s what we call the ripple effect. Diversity is one of our superpowers but we also recognise that succeeding in diverse teams doesn’t happen without strong communication. Communication builds trust and helps us provide a first-class service, allowing our clients and consultants to focus on their important work.

We are a unique company, created to be an implementing partner to the humanitarian community. We strive to be groundbreaking and original in our ideas. We take the initiative, and own our actions, but recognise that we cannot accomplish anything in a silo. We are guided by integrity and honesty and strive to do the right thing even when it’s hard. We don’t avoid the difficult tasks but face them head on. And, when things are tough or don’t go how we expect them to, we act bravely and take note of the lessons we have learnt. Times of crisis are when we dig deep and find our strength and resilience. We do not give up.

Growth is an important part of any organisation, and at CTG our growth means the positive ripple effect of enabling change spreads wider. For CTG to enable the delivery of extraordinary humanitarian programmes, each CTG team member must be extraordinary. This requires challenging ourselves to build our existing skills and knowledge. We strive to create work we are proud of, but when we’re thrown a curve ball, we’re not afraid to adapt. We embrace feedback and reflection, challenge old processes, ways of thinking, and we aren’t afraid to question each other. Our inquisitiveness unearths our greatest discoveries.

We recognise that everything we do helps contribute to the making of a better world.
INTEGRATING OUR VALUES INTO THE CORE OF OUR BUSINESS
This launch only marks the start of our values journey. We will be taking steps to integrate them into the heart of our operations. We hope you find them as inspiring and motivational as we do, as these values truly represent the principles that make us uniquely CTG.
