I believe in living life with purpose and always striving to grow and make a positive impact.

Becoming a humanitarian

Raphael earned a Diploma in Public Administration from Cambridge School in 2012 and is currently pursuing a Diploma in Logistics and Procurement at Stafford International University.

Before joining CTG (Committed to Good), Raphael worked with Medecins Sans Frontier (MSF)-Spain as a Finance and HR assistant, focusing on payment, staff recruitment and team life. During this time, he developed skills in finance filed connection (FFC), project management, logistics and community engagement, which he found to be highly transferable to humanitarian work.

“My journey into the humanitarian field began with a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities,” shares Raphael. “Initially, I became involved through volunteering with a local NGO, participating in disaster relief efforts. These experiences opened my eyes to the pressing needs of marginalised groups and inspired me to pursue a more impactful career path.

“Joining CTG was a natural step, as it aligned with my commitment to creating sustainable change and supporting communities in crisis. I’ve since been dedicated to leveraging my skills and experience to contribute to meaningful projects that improve lives and promote resilience.”

Behind the scenes

As a Logistics Manager, Raphael’s day-to-day responsibilities revolve around ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods, services, and information across the supply chain. His daily tasks include planning and coordination, inventory management, team supervision, problem-solving, and compliance and documentation.

Raphael shares what a day at work is like for him: “A typical day in the field is dynamic, challenging, and highly rewarding. No two days are ever quite the same.

“The day often starts with a team meeting to review the day’s objectives, potential challenges, and any updates from the previous day. This ensures everyone is aligned and aware of their responsibilities. I then usually visit warehouses, delivery points, or project sites to ensure operations are running smoothly and according to plan, which includes checking inventory levels, monitoring transportation logistics, and verifying that safety protocols are being followed.

“Challenges are inevitable in the field, such as delays, supply shortages, or equipment breakdowns. I work with my team to find quick and effective solutions to keep operations on track. Midday often involves coordinating with local partners, vendors, or community leaders. Building strong relationships is key to ensuring smooth logistics and addressing any concerns or cultural considerations,” he continues.

“The day typically ends with a debrief to review accomplishments and lessons learned.

I work on refining plans for the next day, incorporating feedback and addressing any unresolved issues. Of course, fieldwork is unpredictable, and priorities can shift quickly based on emergencies, weather conditions, or unforeseen events. Remaining adaptable and solution-oriented is essential to succeeding in this role.

“While the days can be long and demanding, the opportunity to make a tangible difference – whether by supporting critical operations or delivering aid to those in need – makes every effort worthwhile.”

Motivated to do more

“The motivation to continue despite difficulties often stems from a deep sense of purpose and the desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals,” explains Alfred. “The challenges faced, such as

For Raphael, working in the humanitarian field comes with its fair share of challenges. “But,” he says, “what motivates me to continue is the profound impact this work has on individuals and communities in need. Knowing that my efforts contribute to improving lives, even in the smallest way, keeps me grounded and inspired.

“One of the greatest sources of motivation is witnessing the resilience and strength of the people we serve,” he shares. He’s experienced many examples of this in the field.

“During a humanitarian relief mission, we were tasked with delivering emergency medical supplies to a remote community that had been severely affected by conflict. The journey was long and challenging. When we finally arrived, I was struck by the resilience of the people despite their circumstances. I vividly remember a young mother who approached us, holding her malnourished child. She expressed gratitude not just for the aid but for the simple fact that we showed up. That moment reminded me that beyond logistics and operations, the human connection is what truly matters in this work.”

This experience deepened his resolve to ensure that every task, no matter how small, contributes to easing the struggles of those in need. It also highlighted the importance of empathy, adaptability, and teamwork in delivering meaningful impact.

Life outside work

Outside of his work in the humanitarian field, Raphael keeps busy with his family and hobbies: “I’m married to my three beautiful wives, who have been my greatest source of support and inspiration. Together, we share a love for exploring new cultures, deep conversations, and creating meaningful memories.

“In addition to my personal life,” shares Raphael, “I manage a YouTube channel dedicated to exploring the vibrant world of ‘chollo’ music. It’s a platform where I connect with like-minded individuals and celebrate the universal language of music.” He also enjoys activities such as reading, hiking, or engaging in meaningful conversations about faith and life.

“Above all, I strive to strike a balance between my faith, values, and modern-day life, always aiming to live with integrity and intention.”
