I’m really happy with what I do, especially when I get to help people. A highlight for me was when I was conducting accreditation to a new team member, a technical field manager. He was very nervous, so I took him aside and spoke to him and he eventually calmed down and felt confident enough to continue with the accreditation.  

 I often have to visit the teams outside of town and conduct quality assurance on their work. Even though I’m working in a conflict setting, I don’t face many challenges. The main challenge for me is when it rains hard the roads become very unsafe, which means we can’t really drive anywhere.  

I think anyone can do this type of work, both men and women. One would just have to be trained properly in demining activities and (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) EODs. I’m proud to be a part of making South Sudan a safer place. I really believe South Sudan will be free from mines and explosive remnants of war and that we can rebuild a better future.
