She has 14 years of experience managing projects in challenging environments. From the day that Alice stepped into Iraq, in 2003, she felt a certainty that she was meant to work assisting communities, particularly local people, of fragile and conflict-affected countries. Over the years she has expanded CTG’s operations from an Afghanistan focus to 25 countries. Alice describes herself as a wife, mother, boss and workaholic.

During his time in the SAS Richard worked on every continent and was intimately involved in many international incidents during the 1980s. Following his distinguished military career, he was Deputy Chief Executive of the Leadership Trust, who specialise in leadership development training. In 1991, he was invited to join Defence Systems Ltd, a company providing security services mainly in Africa and went on to become their CEO in 1995. In 1999, he formed the Hart Group, providing specialised security services on a global basis before going on to form a number of other businesses that operate in challenging environment which now make up the Chelsea Group. Today the Chelsea Group employs some 8000 people across 49 countries and offers services in security, power generation, remote site management and more.

Penny is experienced in the International Security and Post-Conflict Stabilization fields. She has worked for the UK Government and in the Private Security and Risk Management sector and has taken an active role in Democracy Building with International Institutions including the United Nations. Her career began in 1973 in the UK Security Service. She has served operationally in Northern Ireland (from 1976-77) and throughout the Balkans. Since then, Penny has worked on extensive missions for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Cabinet of the High Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina working closely with the European Commission, the European Council and NATO. Penny set up a small NGO, Post Conflict People, which worked towards improving practical performance of Governments, International Agencies, Companies and individuals working in post-conflict areas. Penny was a founding member of the British Association of Private Security Companies (BASC) which set the path towards international regulation of the private security industry.

Claus Haugaard Sørensen is Senior Adviser to the European Union. During the past year Mr. Sørensen has advised EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on crisis management and humanitarian issues. In 2006 he was appointed Director General for the Commissions’ Communication department, and in 2011 he became head of the Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection DG in the European Commission (ECHO). While exercising that function Mr. Sørensen became a driving force in improving the EU’s responses to crisis and conflict-affected victims. He also led the reform of the international Humanitarian system, leading up to the Istanbul Humanitarian Summit in May 2016. He also promoted the resilience approach and disaster risk reduction approach, both globally and inside the European Union. Mr. Sørensen has a background as a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and a long history of work within the EU. In 1990 he joined the European Commission’s Cabinet of Vice-president Henning Christophersen working on the EURO, relations with Eastern Europe, the Enlargement with Sweden, Austria and Finland as well as the European Social dimension and Environmental issues. Between 1999 and 2011, Mr. Sørensen held functions such as Director for International Environmental issues, Head of Cabinet for respectively the Commissioner for Agriculture and the Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian assistance. Mr Sørensen has a Masters in Economics from Aarhus University and regularly lectures at the Universities of Lund, York and Copenhagen.

Former Senior Vice President of CTG, Alexander was responsible for overseeing CTG’s new business strategy and managing the company’s humanitarian client relationships globally. Alexander started at CTG in 2010 as an Account Manager supporting client projects in Afghanistan and Iraq, and proceeded to spearhead the development of CTG’s operations in Somalia – which under his management became the company’s largest operational hub. Alexander then led CTG’s expansion wider across Africa and into new territories, overseeing the implementation of special projects, including its disaster response to the Ebola crisis in Liberia and Sierra Leone in 2015. He finds fulfilment in bringing help to those who would otherwise not receive it. Thorough planning and execution are Alexander’s keys to success, and he hope to show the world how effective CTG’s operations have been as he remains an important part of the CTG Board with close visibility on the company’s strategic direction and monitoring performance.
Alexander established CTG’s office in New York, where he worked closely with international aid organisations and has a direct link to the United Nations Headquarters.
In 2018 Alexander moved to the role of Chief Operating Officer for the Chelsea Group.

James has over 17 years’ experience in Human Resources and Operations Management. He began his career at the European Commission in the office for Humanitarian Aid then went on to work for the UN in East Africa. Following this he spent several years in Paris, London and Dubai as a management consultant specialising in HR and Organisational Development. Prior to joining CTG in 2015, James was HR Director for a large British security firm operating in high-risk areas and he also ran the operations for a renowned remote-site medical company. James is a linguist and has a Masters in International Relations. Inspired by the culture of the company to make a difference, James most enjoys the fact that the work CTG does makes an impact on peoples’ lives.

Kevin started with CTG in 2018 as the Finance Manager. After managing the Finance team for two years, he moved over to the position of Chief Financial Officer of Chelsea Group. As the CFO, Kevin not only oversees CTG Finances with our CEO but also works closely with The Chairman and the Group COO on the finances of the other Group companies.
Kevin has a Degree from Brunel University in London as well as being a qualified Accountant. He spent 15 years working in the UK for corporates such as Siemens and Dun & Bradstreet before moving to Dubai in 2007. Since being in the Middle East, Kevin has gained extensive experience in providing services in challenging environments with the likes of Olive Group and G4S Risk Management.
Kevin spends his personal time with his family and is an avid spectator at a variety of sports.

Alex is responsible for strengthening CTG’s Duty of Care and approach to security and safety in all locations, as well as providing support to the country teams.
Alex has spent the last four years working for IDG focusing on UN Agencies, most recently as the Country Manager for Somalia. Prior to working for IDG, he spent nearly a decade as an officer in the British Army, deploying on two occasions to Afghanistan and completing many other duties and courses both in the UK and aboard. He is now part of the Army Reserves.
Alex is in the final stages of his MBA and his favorite activities include, skiing, climbing, mountaineering and reading.

He is responsible for supporting our Account Managers, Clients and operations in South Sudan.
Anthony has a Masters’ of Science in International Management, from the Burgundy School of Business. After his “Sodexo” experience in Kuwait as a Project manager, he joined Doctors without Borders in Iraq, Congo (DRC), Cameroun and South Sudan where he gained extensive experience in managing all HR, administrative and financial aspects of humanitarian operations.
In his free time, he likes to run ultra trails, to hike (he hiked the USA), to kayak or to ski. He also enjoys photography, reading and drawing.

Dr Deborah J Smith is an international development professional with 20 years of experience working in developing, fragile and conflict affected countries in Africa and Asia. Since 2003 she has held senior management roles on projects and programmes funded by USAID and a variety of European donors. She has provided technical oversight to and managed programming in the fields of security and justice reform; community based dispute resolution/customary justice; local governance; stabilization; women’s empowerment; public health and civil society strengthening. She has delivered technical advisory services to a range of organisations in the fields of justice, governance, gender issues and gender mainstreaming approaches. Today, she oversees all CTG activities in Afghanistan one of CTG’s largest areas of operation.

With more than 13 years of professional experience in the fields of Human Resources and Administration, he has extensive experience in the Technical Recruitment of white and blue collar for a diverse set of industries.

Iman joined CTG on 4 November 2018 as Country Director in Somalia. She is responsible for the overall strategic leadership and direction of the CTG Somalia programme, and achieving the organisational vision, mission and objectives. Iman has a Master of Science Degree in Sustainable Development from the University of London, and specialised in Development Management at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). With more than 24 years of professional experience, of which 17 were acquired working with the United Nations in Palestine and Libya, Iman has extensive experience in humanitarian and socioeconomic development processes, and more specifically with the ‘New Way of Working’ that addresses the humanitarian–peace–development nexus. Iman also has a vast experience in aid effectiveness, programme management and global partnership formulation. Her favourite recreational activity is pilates, which she is very passionate about, and she also enjoys reading and exploring the world. Iman is Lebanese Canadian and has a son and a daughter.

Lourdes forms part of the Field Liaison Office (FLO) team, who are responsible for remote Account Management and Customer Support to CTG’s Consultants and Clients.
From Mexico, Lourdes moved to Dubai in 2018. She has studied and worked in Mexico, Canada, Italy, Argentina, U.S.A. and has a degree in International Relations with a specialization in Conflict Resolution and Mediation.
Lourdes likes cooking and trying new recipes for her family. She also enjoys learning new languages, horse riding and going to the opera.

Lucy Joined CTG in 2014 having run her own business in Delhi before that. After spending three years based in Kenya and Somalia, Lucy became the Commercial Manager for the MENA region based out of the London office but spending a majority of her time in Tunis, Amman and Beirut. Today she is the Global Account Director.
Lucy enjoys the challenge of operating in high-risk locations and believes it is all made worthwhile by enabling clients to implement humanitarian aid and assistance that otherwise wouldn’t be possible. She’s a yoga nut, with a love of travel and used to ride professionally, representing Great Britain.

After graduating with a Modern History degree from Oxford University, Louisa studied further to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. After spending several years working in London and Tokyo for a UK law firm, Louisa left the corporate world to join CTG and lead all the legal and compliance aspects of CTG’s global business. Louisa is responsible for CTG’s internal compliance and quality programmes, including ISO 9001, commercial compliance, Good Governance, labour law and service delivery. In 2017, Louisa’s role also diversified into operations where she is responsible for the standardisation of CTG’s project delivery including mobilisation, reporting and new country start-ups.

As Regional Director & Head of Recruitment based in Dubai, Marcel heads up the Rapid Recruitment and Deployment (RRAD) team and is responsible for CTG’s expansion into Nigeria and other regions.
Marcel is a Dutch national and has been working in the field of Recruitment and Workforce Management Services since the year 2000. For the last 15 years he has been involved in developing business and managing high performance teams in several challenging and emerging markets in the Middle East & Africa.
Marcel is married with 2 children (a girl and a boy) and although his main passion has always been football, he does enjoy playing a wide variety of other sports including golf, and keeping himself fit. He also has a love of traveling, having done so throughout Europe and the Middle East and Asia.

Marcus Tan de Bibiana is a peacebuilding, governance and conflict-sensitive development specialist who has worked primarily as an independent consultant around Asia and Africa, with specialisation in programme development, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and practical education. In line with his commitment to sustainable development and resilience in Somalia, his past in-country experience centered around governance policy and frameworks, capacity development, and service delivery. Marcus’s work is deeply motivated by conflict mediation, peer practitioner mentoring and arts-based social justice work.
He joined CTG in 2020 as Deputy Country Director supporting projects in Somalia.

Meriam is responsible for our operations in South Sudan. She has an MA in Advanced Humanitarian Action from The Graduate Institute, University of Geneva, specializing in Communication and Health in Emergencies.
As an Operations and Business Development professional in the private sector for over ten years, Meriam introduced and represented three international brands (Ricoh International, Konica Minolta, and Samsung) in Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan markets. Meriam also worked as an external contractor with the United Nations Mission in Sudan and South Sudan, for over five years, managing hardware fleets throughout the peacekeeping mission.
In 2017, Meriam joined IOM as the Operations Officer for the DTM Libya program where she managed one of the principal CTG teams in-country.

Natasha joined CTG in January 2020 and is responsible for managing our operations, clients and team in Libya. She is proud to work for a company that prioritises women’s empowerment, especially access to employment opportunities in high-risk environments.
Natasha has over a decade of experience working on political and security related issues. Prior to joining CTG, she worked for three years with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), based in Mogadishu. She held several positions with UNSOM, including as Special Assistant to the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General. Before this, she worked for the Australian Government as an Analyst on Africa and Peacekeeping issues. Natasha holds a Master’s of International Law from the Australian National University, specialising in International Security Law.
In her free time, Natasha can be found devouring books, talking incessantly with her far flung family and friends and exploring the world.

Nicole has experience working with governments, civil society organizations and multi-national companies, most notably with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Dubai Land Department, and Her Royal Highness Princess Basma’s youth centres. She previously co-chaired the UAE WEP’s steering committee with our CEO, Alice, and has served on numerous other boards.
Nicole is a recipient of two USAID Meritorious Honors Awards, a U.S. Department of State Meritorious Group Award, and received a service medal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for her work in Afghanistan. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration of Criminal Justice and Psychology, and a Masters’ in Social Work. She also holds a social work license in New Jersey, US, and was nominated as an official Mentor for the National Network for Social Work Management for her commitment to international social work.

Palmer oversees a variety of projects for CTG in South Sudan and is currently working on a refugee camp management project in Bentiu and Malakal.These camps are referred to as POCs –protection of civilian camps – and are comprised of locals internally displaced in their own land majoring due to civil wars and majorly tribal clashes, who are given an opportunity to earn an income and have a livelihood. Her focus is HR management, ensuring the welfare of the team on the ground and overseeing all projects. South Sudan is a tough environment to operate in but Palmer enjoys the problem solving and working in regions that are in urgent need of help. She has worked in majorly conflict-affected areas in South Sudan as well as Gulu, Uganda, on projects that helped child victims of war and internally displaced people.

Svitsai is a Field Liaison Officer who has considerable experience working in the MENA region; her earlier career was in HR and recruitment in South Africa and Zimbabwe. She focuses on humanitarian aid, rehabilitation, reconstruction and redevelopment projects in hostile locations. Svitsai’s job satisfaction comes from knowing that she makes a difference in fragile and war-torn countries through providing the best matching talent for key roles. Svitsai realised the impact the recruitment team has in supporting CTG’s corporate social responsibilities and she volunteered to take part in the Gender Champions of Change Team, who make up the think take for gender related issues. She is passionate about gender equality in the workplace and she believes change comes when people take the initiative to do something, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem, in order to bring about change.

Syrine joined CTG in September 2020 as an Account Manager in the Libya Team. She has a Master’s in Developmental Psychology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in the University of Tunis in Tunisia.
Humanitarian work has always been Syrine’s calling. She has valuable experience working with the International Organization of Migration (IOM) Tunisia, supporting migrants in accessing support services in Tunisia, as well as with several NGOs, including Creative Associates International.
In her spare time, Syrine enjoys reading, baking and drawing. She is an outgoing person and likes spending time with family and friends. Syrine is very happy to be part of Committed To Good.

Tony joined CTG in in October 2014 as a consultant in Liberia for the Ebola projects before joining CTG full-time in February 2016. He started working in hostile locations in Iraq in 2006 and traveled to most areas of the country as sub-contractor for engineering company KBR, before moving to Afghanistan. Working in remote and hostile environments for more than 10 years, Tony still enjoys the diversity this offers. When off rotation, he heads back to the UK to spend time with his partner, and enjoys many holidays to decompress.

Valentina AKA Tina joined our team in early 2017; she grew up in Lebanon and moved to the UAE after landing an internship with CTG. One year down the line, she was able to prove herself as a valuable team player and was offered a permanent role. She is multilingual, a multitasker and best known for being a jack-of-all-trades. Her work with CTG focuses on remote account management and client support; she is passionate about her job, professional and friendly at the same time. For Valentina, the most rewarding thing about working with CTG is that she is helping make a positive change around the world.

Vanessa joined the Chelsea Group in 2015, overseeing the marketing for several of the companies including CTG. A Brit living in Cape Town, with a degree in English Literature, she spent 11 years in publishing before taking a side step into the world of marketing. Highlights of the role have included the rebranding of CTG in 2017 and working on the ‘Day In The Life’ campaign that shares stories from the inspiring CTG humanitarians working in fragile and conflict-affected countries. It’s been an exciting journey and Vanessa looks forward to continue sharing CTG’s stories and their commitment as an ethical partner for the humanitarian and development communities.

Wafa has been working for CTG’s Sudan office since November 2013, and has filled many roles from account management and accounting, to administration and even driver. Starting out as a Liaison and Administrative Support Officer, Wafa has spent some time in the Dubai head office as a Talent Acquisition Intern. Today she is the Client Services Account Manager in Khartoum.
Through CTG I have had the chance to travel and see my country; I went to Darfur and Kordofan and I don’t think I could have made it without CTG.
